Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent ward housekeeper working alongside a large transdisciplinary team.

The unit is primarily a neurorehabilitation unit which additionally offers rehabilitation for patients with spinal injuries, and major trauma patients to support patients following injuries / illnesses to gain or maintain their independence as much as possible.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the ensuring the ward is stocked with the necessary equipment. You will help with the smooth running of the ward and work proactively as part of our transdisciplinary team.

To successful candidate will ensure a high standard of cleanliness throughout the unit whilst also taking responsibility for aspects of stock maintenance and control. The main elements of the role will include cleaning, and maintenance service referrals and liaisons and being a proactive team player within the unit and occasionally to cover reception.

The successful candidate will need to show that they can work independently as well as demonstrate effective time management skills.

There will also be opportunities to support patients more directly with planning and undertaking activities with individuals or small groups of patients supporting engagement, as well as accompanying patients to appointments as and when required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with material management to ensure correct stock levels are maintained and that stock is correctly stored and maintained, the use of E-Series will also be essential to order non-stock items.

The role will also be responsible for ensuring electrical equipment is PAT tested in line with Health and Safety, to ensure the ward is safe for staff, patients and relatives.

The role will also incorporate some elements of supporting patients with activities on the ward as well as potentially accompanying patients to appointments.

  • Previous experience in dealing with customers, patients or clients within the healthcare setting.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working within Nottingham university hospitals trust.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
