We are looking to recruit suitable people with experience in a similar environment.

The security department provides varying functions to protect patients, staff and visitors in addition to assisting in the physical security of equipment, premises and property at the Trust.

It is essential that you have worked in a similar public environment, and you are able to communicate effectively with patients, members of the public, visitors and staff in a professional manner and able to deal with difficult and sometimes violent situations, many of which will involve patients. Each day will be different, on occasions difficult and busy. You will need to be physically fit to patrol the site and undertake the duties.

The large proportion of incidents involve the protection of patients and staff from injury usually where medical factors are involved, for example patients reactions to medication, mental health issues, dementia and as such, they must be protected, treated and respected. Although security qualifications, including health and safety are not essential they are desirable.

Please note this post will be predominantly based at Queens Hospital Burton.

If you have the necessary experience and skills, then your application would be welcomed.

To assist in maintaining an appropriate level of security in respect of the Trust, with a view to protecting people and property and the prevention and detection of crime within all University of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB)

You will be required to work at multiple sites in a department where we provide a 24/7 service 365 days a year. Our focus is on putting our patients first and being there when they need us.

Flexibility is essential in maintaining this service. Once you are settled into the role, you will have the option to pick up overtime shifts as and when they are available.

There will be occasions where you are asked to travel to any of our 5 sites to support with security related incidents.
